You've Finally Made An Amazon Sale! Now What?

What happens immediately after you make a sale as an Amazon affiliate? What should you expect? I searched around to find specific answers to my questions, but I could not find them easily. So, I decided to write this short and quick article (hub) to help others when that big day comes when they finally make their first sale on Amazon.com.

Shocked and Amazed I made 4 Amazon sales!

Last week, I logged into my Amazon affiliate account to get some product links for an article I was writing. I logged in as usual and the home page for Amazon associates appeared on my computer screen. I casually glanced over to look at the number of clicks I’ve received expecting to see what I normally see, an umpteen number of clicks and ZERO sales. Imagine my surprise when I saw that I had made 4 sales!!! Wow! My jaw dropped and I'm sure my eyes bugged out of their sockets like the cartoon characters' do in the cartoons. I was ecstatic. I made 4 sales! Yes! Yes! Yes!. Then I looked at the earnings. My excitement soon turned into doubt. The earnings field said ZERO. I thought to myself, "Is this a fluke?" "Did someone make some fake orders?" "Now what?"

Trying to keep my hopes up, I looked around FAQs to see what happens next, but I didn't see anything written specifically about what happens after you make a sale. I wasn't exactly sure, but I assumed that the earnings would show up after the items are shipped. Again, I didn't know for sure so I decided that I would believe it (4 sales) when I see the earnings.

After several days passed I was able to see my earnings. They did eventually show up. It was a long holiday weekend so there was a delay in the orders being shipped. All of the items were shipped after the long weekend. Phew! Thank God, it wasn't a fluke. I actually made 4 Amazon sales! Yay!

When you sign up as an affiliate you choose your preference of payment. The options are:

• An Amazon gift certificate
• Money deposited directly into your bank account
• A check sent to you by mail. If you choose this option, the pay out threshold is $100 and Amazon will charge you a $15 processing fee.

*** Note: the only payment option for International affiliates is by check. However the $15 processing fee will be waived.

1. Your Amazon associate's home page will show the number of sales you made.

2. Your earnings will show on your Amazon associate home page AFTER the items are actually shipped.

3. Your earnings go into your Amazon affiliate account.

4. Your earnings accumulate. The total is considered for pay out at the end of each calendar month. The minimum threshold for pay out is $10 ($100 for affiliates being paid by check).

5. If you meet the minimum threshold amount by the end of the calendar month, you will be paid approximately 60 days after the end of the calendar month. For example, if you meet the minimum threshold by the end of July, then you will be paid in late September.

6. If you do not meet the minimum threshold by the end of a calendar month then your earnings will roll over into the next month.

***FYI: It is possible that your customer may return an order or receive a refund. If that happens, the commission will be deducted out of your affiliate account. Your account will show a negative balance. Amazon will apply your future commissions to pay for the negative balance.

I didn't think I would ever make a sale with Amazon and HubPages, but I have. I've made 4!! Yay again. Sorry about my over enthusiasm. I'm just really surprised that I did it.

You really can make money writing on HubPages. I've only been writing here for a short while. At first, I had mediocre results. When I set a small goal to meet, I started making more. My goal was to make at least $1 per day/ $30 per month. I met and exceeded that goal. Now, I've raised the amount. Just like learning to walk, you first crawl, then walk. After a while, you can run. Then you can run faster and longer.
