Workout On A Rebounder - Health Benefits Of Rebounding; A Fun, Unique & Different Way To Exercise

This rebounder has nothing to do with basketball.
A few years ago if I heard the word rebounder I would have immediately thought about the sport of basketball and the person who gains possession of the ball after a missed attempt at making the basket. Now, I know a rebounder is a mini trampoline and exercising on one is called rebounding. It is one of my favorite ways to exercise. My favorite move on the rebounder is called the “tuck jump". You jump straight up as high as you can. On the way up you bend your knees, and tuck your legs up under your arms. Then you release your legs on the way back down to the mat. It is so much fun. It’s like being a kid again. Now, I know why kids have so much fun jumping on trampolines.
Al Carter the pioneer of rebound exercise.
Al Carter is considered the pioneer of rebound exercise. His research lead to and and started the industry. In the early 70‘s Carter, was on a professional trampoline team that performed for the public over 500 times. He also trained his children on the trampoline. Upon discovering the dramatic improvements in their endurance, strength, mental development and overall health after being in the show, he set off to study why the trampoline was so beneficial to the body. His research lead to the development of the first mini trampoline rebounder. He has written four books. In 1979, his second book, “The Miracles of Rebound Exercise” became a 1.3 million dollar best seller. Al Carter has worked with NASA and taught the astronauts about rebound exercise. He developed a training course in rebound exercise and certified other people in rebound exercise.
Exercising on a rebounder is energetic & FUN!
I found out about rebounding while looking for exercise equipment to buy. I wanted something to help me workout. I originally wanted a treadmill or an exercise bike, but quickly dropped that idea and bought a rebounder after I saw how much fun rebounding looked (I never had a trampoline when I was a kid, lol) and read about the extra health benefits of rebounding. Yes, I saw that rebounding could be my excuse for jumping up and down like a kid without looking silly.
Benefits Of Rebounding
You get unique health benefits with rebounding.
Rebounding exercises every single cell in the body. They all get stronger. Some of the other unique benefits you get by working out on a rebounder are:
No hard impact on the joints.
Exercising on a rebounder causes less stress on the joints than if jumping on a hard surface in regular exercises such as jogging or running.
Causes Lymph Fluid Circulation & Flushes Out Toxins.
The blood stream has the heart to pump and recycle blood throughout the body. Unlike the blood stream, the lymphatic system does not have a pump for circulation to flush out toxins. It is very important to keep the lymph system detoxed in cases of cancer. Rebounder exercise stimulates the millions of one-way valves in the lymphatic system to open and close and flush out toxins.
Gravitational force strengthens the musculoskeletal systems
Gravitational force or GForce is the force of gravity on the cells of the body which occurs while rebounding. You experience weightlessness at the top of the bounce and up to five times the force of gravity at the bottom of the bounce. On the rebounder, you can exercise in a wider range of motions using that force.
Circulate more oxygen to burn fat.
You need oxygen to burn fat. Rebounding causes circulation of more oxygen throughout the body to burn more fat.
You get greater effect with less effort.
Exercise is essentially your body (cells) resisting gravity and weight. When you lift weights your arm is resisting gravity’s force and the muscle gets stronger. It takes very little effort to bounce up and down on a Rebounder, but your cells still experiences resistance and force from the movement. Thereby they are getting stronger. It has been determined that exercising on a rebounder for about twenty minutes is equivalent to about jogging three miles.
Anyone can exercise on a rebounder.
Children up to elderly people can benefit from rebounding. Even disabled people can sit on the rebounder and benefit. It takes very little effort to exercise on the mini trampoline. Lightly bouncing on one causes the cells to get stronger. It was discovered that the body reacts the same to deceleration and acceleration as it does to gravity. Your your body resists that force and the body gets stronger.
