Thank God for herbs, natural herbal remedies for Anxiety. Let's face it, we are living in a modern society that has a multitude of things that will cause us anxiety if we let them. Everyone has at least one family member who at times drives us crazy and sets our nerves on edge. Can you say teenagers? Many people have financial issues. Some have problems on their job. That is if they have a job at all in this awful economy. There is so much uncertainty. However, we have to accept the fact that we do not live in a perfect world.

Many people go to psychologists or other mental health professionals to help them through extreme times of anxiety. They are often prescribed strong pharmaceutical drugs that have many dangerous side effects. These drugs are also highly addictive. There are other people who have bouts of anxiety from time to time, but rather than relying on psychologist, they lean on their religious faith for comfort and strength. I personally believe this is the main route to gaining relief from anxiety.

The creator also, gave us herbs and other natural substances to aid us in times of need. Herbs have few if any side effects when taken correctly. They are gentle and they are not addictive.

Don't let anxiety get the best of you. Consider natural remedies for anxiety.

Remedies: Synthetic or Natural

Which should you choose?

The use of synthetic drugs usually bring dangerous side effects with them.

Herbs are still the alternative medicine and the primary source of health care for 75% of the world’s population. If used properly there are less side effects.

There are different ways to take your herbs.

If you're under stress, look into using herbs, natural remedies for anxiety. You can use herbal remedies in several forms. You can use herbs in pill or capsule form, liquid extract form, essential oils for external use, or drink as a tea. Herbal teas are my personal best way of taking herbs. Others may prefer other methods. We’re all different and may have different preferences. Do what's best for you. The following herbs are only a few in a long list that can help calm your stressed out nerves and anxiety.

Catnip. This herb is not just for cats. It amazing that the chemicals that cats love are the ones that act as a mild tranquilizer when we consume them. Again, you can use pills, capsules, liquid extracts, or tea. To use Catnip as a tea, steep two teaspoons of tea leaves in hot (not boiling) water for about 20 minutes. You can drink up to three cups per day. The taste of Catnip is pleasant and minty.

Chamomile. This favorite herb has a long history of being used to calm and relax. Chamomile has been proven to slow down the central nervous system. Made into a tea, Chamomile is mild and quite tasty. The neat thing about herbal remedies is that they have multiple functions. Chamomile is also used to calm an upset stomach. You can also use this herb in a warm bath.

Herbal natural remedies are gentle and soothing.

Lavender. This is a favorite with many people for many issues. If you could only have one herb, Lavender is the one you would not want to be without. Lavender's aroma calms and relaxes. You can use a few drops of essential oil in a warm, relaxing bath. Of course you can also drink a cup of Lavender tea which has a relaxing effect.

St. John's Worth. If there is one herbal remedy for anxiety that is widely known it's this one. There have been lots of books written about the wonderful effects of using St. John's Worth. It has been used for hundreds of years as a mild tranquilizer. It's also been used to treat depression. Once again, you can choose which form you like best to use this herb. I like herbal tea.

Again, these are only a few of the vast array of natural plants and herbal remedies for anxiety. Some other herbs that are worth looking into are Balm, Passionflower, Motherwort, Evening Primrose Oil, Skullcap, and Valerian.

Yes Daisyjae,

Cats really love catnip. You should see some of the You Tube videos of cats and catnip. It's amazing. Thanks for your comments.
