Easy Home Remedies For Constipation
69Constipation is a common, but preventable ailment.
Not being able to “go" is a terrible problem to have. The colon stores toxins and waste that should not remain in the body very long. Some health care professionals say we should “go" one to three times a day. Others say at least two or three times a week. The point is that the toxins sitting in the colon should not stay in our bodies long.
Laxatives and over the counter drugs may work initially, but with continued use their effect will eventually wear off as the colon adapts to being stimulated. It becomes “lazy" and starts to rely on being jump started to function. Fortunately, we don’t have to rely on over the counter drugs. There are many natural home remedies that can do the job naturally.
As with many other ailments, constipation usually begins with what we eat. An unhealthy diet combined with a stressful lifestyle reaps havoc on the body. Many people are on a busy schedule and don’t take the time needed to eat healthy meals. If this the case there are still many things you can do that don’t require a lot of time. Eating foods that remedy constipation would be ideal and the first step taken. Then afterward, natural herbs and other supplements can be used in conjunction with that.
Water. First things first.
Water. I know, we hear it all the time, but it really is true. Getting enough water would solve or lessen many health problems. If the body is not getting enough water, there won’t be enough of it to for the colon to carry out the waste. So, I’ll say this. You probably already know it by heart. So, say it with me. Drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day.
Fiber is key.
Healthy Fiber Foods. Fiber is the key to remedying constipation. Most people do not eat enough of it. Fiber absorb toxins and carries them out of the body easily. The foods I’m going to list here do not need time to be prepared. They’re already pre-packaged. Just put one in your bag or briefcase. They can be eaten on the go. Healthy finger foods like berries, grapes, and nuts can be carried with you in zip lock bags.
Foods packed with fiber.
Apples, Apricots, Bananas, Berries(Blackberry, Blueberry, Elderberry, Raspberry, Strawberry), Carrots, Dates, Figs, Mangoes, Nuts, Oranges, Pears, Prunes, Raisins and many other fresh fruits and vegetables. Other fiber foods that remedy constipation, but does takes a little time to prepare are beans, okra, peas, green leafy vegetables, oats, whole grains , and all other foods that contains fiber.
Herbs. Alfalfa, Aloe Vera, Butternut, Cascara Sagrada, Dandelion Leaves, Fennel, Golden seal, Papaya, Peppermint, Psyllium, Sarsaparilla, Senna, Slippery Elm.
Other natural substances. Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey, Castor Oil, Olive Oil, Cod Liver Oil.
