Choosing A Workout Routine - Things To Consider

Try this to develop consistency

Try the 21 Day Rule. It’s believed that you can break a bad habit or form a new one in 21 days. Do that behavior or activity for 21 days straight, then it’s likely to become a habit, thus harder to break or to stop doing it.

The first thing to consider when choosing a workout routine is to seek the advice of your physician if you have any pre-existing health conditions. You should also consider consulting with a health care professional if it’s been a long time since you’ve worked out. They may be able to give you some great suggestions on workout routines based on any health concerns you may have.

The next thing to consider in choosing a workout routine is to choose something that you enjoy doing. That is very important because if you enjoy doing it, you are less likely to give up and quit before you make any progress. Many of us have a problem with being consistent in different areas of our lives. Working out is one of those areas. So, choose something that you like doing.

Choose a workout routine based on your personality.
Choose a workout routine based on your personality.

When choosing a workout routine you should also choose one that is challenging, but convenient. Say for example, you choose a workout that requires you to use a particular piece of equipment. If you have to get up early to drag it out, set it, up, etc., more than likely you will soon quit simply because of the inconvenience of it all.

You should also consider your own personality when looking at workout routines. Some questions to consider are: What is your personal style? Are you self motivated or do you need encouragement from others to keep you going? Will your workout be combined with socializing or will it be a time to focus solely on achieving your goals? Are you uncomfortable working out around other people and would rather workout alone?

Once you’ve squared things away with your doctor and chosen a challenging workout routine based on your own personality that you enjoy doing and that’s not an inconvenience, you’re on your way to being healthier, happier person.

Many workout routines to choose from. There is one for you.

If you need some ideas for the kinds of workout routines out there, here are some suggestions to get you started.

Hi,

I like the workout routine section you put together. Personally I enjoy using DVD to follow a dance routine then I jump on my stationary bike for ten minutes. Choosing a workout which takes a minute to start matters too. If I had to drag out equipment I would never exercise.

Thank you for your comments.

I agree with you. If I had to drag out a piece of equipment just to exercise I'd say forget about it. lol.

I like exercising on my rebounder best.

Thanks again.
