Poised to make U.S. history

Election day is right around the corner. Black Republicans are poised to make history. Fourteen Black Republicans won the GOP nomination in their respective congressional districts for this year's election. For the first time since reconstruction, following the American Civil War, the United States congress may have a record number of black republican members.

The last black republican in the U.S. Congress in the modern era was J.C. Watts of Oklahoma (1995 - 2003). Prior to that, Gary Franks served (1991 - 1997). Some people might be shocked to learn that the first ever black U. S. Congressmen were Republicans. Abraham Lincoln who brought about the Emancipation Proclamation that freed the slaves at the end of the Civil War was a Republican. Ex-slaves identified themselves as Republicans.

The Democrat Party's Ugly Truth

After the Civil War blacks in states with large ex-slave populations were elected to the U.S. congress. Many of them were not allowed to take their office that they had been legally elected to. Others were gradually forced out by racist. Democrats from southern states discriminated against newly elected ex-slaves in many ways. Democrat party was the party of the Ku Klux Klan. The Democrats passed Jim Crow laws. They passed laws and restrictions to deny black people the right to vote. They also passed laws to deny blacks to own firearms or even knives to protect themselves and their families.

Rev. Wayne Perryman

How blacks went from Republican to majority Democrat

The Civil Rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was a Republican. It wasn't until after his death that black people started voting for the Democrat party in large numbers. When Democrats discovered how to manipulate black people to get their votes to remain in power with social welfare programs, most took the bait. It's that simple. Keeping them in office keeps the checks coming. That's how politicians stay in power. Race baiters, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the NAACP are looked at as the so-called spokesmen for black people. Their job is to keep black people all worked up and focused on race to keep them on the Democrat plantation. Mean while, hardly anyone notices or discusses that Jackson, Sharpton, and the NAACP make millions of dollars each year for doing just that. A majority of black voters have been blindly supporting the Democrats for nearly 50 years but as a people are worst off for it.

Ready for "REAL" change in Washington D.C.

Now record numbers of black Republicans are running for political office. They're not on the Democrat plantation and hope to wake up other black Americans. Will history be made November 2, 2010? I hope so, but only time will tell. It's time for some "real" change in Washington D.C.

The Bias Liberal Media Is Mute... As Usual

I just realized that if either of these intelligent black women were to win in the upcoming election, they would be the very first black Republican woman elected to the United States Congress ever. That would make amazing history. Why isn't the so-called mainstream media reporting on this? You'd better believe that if it was the other way around, the liberal media would be all over the story. Shame on them.

I don't know where these republican ladies are in the polls right now, but it would be awesome if one or both of them won their races.

Interesting NoRR4Me. It takes some courage to express what you think when your opinion isn't very popular. Nicely done.

Thank you Kimh039, no I'm not the kind to follow the herd. Standing up for what's right isn't always popular, but who cares what others think? When all is said and done, what's right and good will win out.

LOL, it's a wonder my profile score isn't in the teens though.

Yeah. Thankfully our profile scores don't reflect our political beliefs. It's a well written hub on an interesting topic. I'm looking forward to checking out some more of your hubs.

@dredgesp, Thank you for your comment. Yes, you rarely hear about pastors like Rev. Wayne Perryman. He's one that tells it like it is. I also like Allen West. He's awesome.

@kimh039. Actually the scores do factor in a little bit. When I see certain of my hubs have lots of views, my profile score usually goes down 2 or 3 points. People who don't like what I've written will vote it down.

Anyway, thank you.
